A bit on me… my name is Kellan by the way…
Hey look! Thats a picture of me!!! This is probably the most face I am ever going to post onto the internet hahaha. Notice how huge that fish must be! Totally not holding it super close to the camera…
Anyways, that was taken this summer during the pandemic (2020) when restrictions lifted for a bit. Being born and raised in Vancouver, the ocean is pretty integrated into my life so getting the change to “escape” was well worth it.
One of my earliest childhood memories was when I would go to the aquarium with my parents. I still go there to this day! It’s just a bit harder to go nowadays seeing that everything is closed and all (including the aquarium).
As a child, the Vancouver aquarium was like a place with no other. I could immerse myself and see what I had never experienced before. Some might disagree, but unlike documentaries and books, nothing could compare to the innate fascination which comes with seeing something alive and in person.
I just graduated from my 5th year as a Biology student at UBC. These days I immerse myself in literature, reading whatever I can get my hands on. From physiology to fish-keeping, there really is no shortage of material to dive into. However, marking from today onwards I am a medical student at UBC!
But note, if my parent ever complain about how much I spend reading and researching fish, I blame them. They fostered this passion, I refuse to take responsibility!
